the rhythm and the rhyme

I love music. Really and truly. And I owe a great deal to the various people in my life who've done much to facilitate this love of mine: Everyone from my parents (who put up with that loud racket in the basement) to friends (who came to all of my shows, even when I sucked), to strangers who seemed to dig what we were doing.

I've been playing percussion, in some form or another, since forever ago. Officially since 5th grade, so going on 16 years now. I've been singing in front of people for quite some time, too, even though there were a few years in between when the very thought sent me into nervous fits. Through all of this, I have had the great privelege of working with many fine musicians and in many great bands. Let's lay it out:

Little Red Wolf: Current and newest project (percussion, vocals, song writing).
The Shabelles: Current project (percussion, backing vocals).
Aporia: Disbanded (percussion, vocals, song writing).
Forte Diem: College group, now defunt, also terrible name (percussion).
The Beat-Me-Ups: High school, Oklahoma, realized too late it was emo (perc.).
Milk: The originator, middle through high school, Illinois (perc. & vocals).

Weaved throughout are a smattering of never-named side projects, jam sessions, school jazz and concert bands, and all sorts of other shenanigans. There have also been several electronic projects:

Magnificent Bastards: Current project, collaborator (perc. & vocals).
DJ Xenophile: Current project of solo composition nonsense (programming).
TNF: Long-ago high school trio of early electronic ne'er-do-wells (programming).

Please feel free to check out any of the above links for more information about any given project.

I also DJ from time to time. You can have a listen to / download one of my sets via SoundCloud here: Millbots Electro-A-Go-Go by Millbot

Extra treat: Back in college I had the good fortune of having my own radio show on the local student station, WSUM 91.7FM. The biggest perk of the job came on the day I had the opportunity to be part of a roundtable interview with Tori Amos. And hey! You can listen to it, if you want. Part 1. Part 2. Part 3. Part 4. Part 5. Part 6. Part 7. Part 8. Part 9.
